Apple expected to eliminate Touch Bar in next MacBook Pros, reinstate MagSafe connector and more
Editor's take: Revered Apple annotator Ming-Chi Kuo in a recent note to investors said he believes Apple is developing 2 new MacBook Pro models packing pregnant design changes. Much of what is said to be in the works will likely appeal to purists that have disagreed with changes made in recent years.
The new MacBook Pros volition be offered with 14-inch and 16-inch displays, Kuo notes, and will prefer a flat-border design similar to what we have seen on the iPhone 12 and contempo iPads. Mercifully, Apple is as well planning to ditch the OLED Touch Bar and will instead render to using physical function keys.
Kuo also believes the magnetically fastened MagSafe power connector will return on the new systems. What'southward more, Apple will reportedly be adding more than ports to its systems, reducing the need to employ dongles to supplement the lack of ports on current models.
Unsurprisingly, both models will use custom Apple silicon based on Arm engineering science. Neither will have the option to send with Intel CPUs, Kuo said.
Apple tree's new xiv- and xvi-inch MacBook Pros are expected to launch quondam in the third quarter. Given the vast makeover and replacement need, Kuo said full MacBook shipments could abound by as much every bit xxx percent this year, to around 20 million units.
